Wil-lec Group is an electrical contractors who provide electrical repairs, service and installation to domestic and commercial customers. We also provide installation services for solar panels, battery storage, gas heating systems and bathrooms.

Wil-lec Group does not manufacture any products, all components are bought from distributors who have already accounted for the emissions of their products and waste from supply to final customer.

Site waste is created from office waste paper, food waste and scrap metal from customer’s old heating and electrical products which is recycled at the local scrap yards.

Wil-lec Group is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.

In order to manage our net zero journey, we have baselined our carbon footprint in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) protocols(i)(ii) and set near term targets and long-term targets to enable us to monitor progress.

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors (or equivalent management body).

Emissions reduction targets

To continue our progress toward achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.

  1. Near-term target: a linear-annual rate reduction of 5% of scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2035
  2. Near-term target: a 90% reduction in scope 3 emissions by 2035
  3. Long-term target: at least a 90% in overall emissions (scope 1,2, and 3) before reaching net zero in 2050; this means an annual reduction of 6% from 2035 to 2050.

Carbon Reduction Projects

Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives

  • Add to our existing solar panel system as we increase building size.
  • Add battery storage.
  • Provide free electric vehicle charging point to enable office staff to switch to electric vehicles.
  • Replaced one fossil fuel van with electric van.
  • Two office staff now drive electric cars for commuting.
  • Replace all light switches with timed motion sensor switches.
  • Replace all lighting with LED lighting.
  • Replaced computers with more energy efficient computers to reduce energy use.

In the future, we hope to implement further measures such as:

  • Replace older solar panels with increased capacity panels as technology improves.
  • Replace fossil burning fleet with electric vehicles as they become due for replacement.
  • Encourage staff to switch from fossil fuel vehicles to Hybrid and full electric vehicles.
  • Reduce waste by using suppliers who recycle their own packaging.
